441 Making STEM Make Sense
The world exists because of math and science, but it doesn't have to be intimidating and you don't need a lab coat or calculator to experience it all around you. STEM is not just for engineers, doctors, and mathematicians! You experience science when you brush your teeth, when you put on clothes, when you play the piano, and when you make your oatmeal in the microwave. Let's look at our world with a different lense and see how science surrounds us, and break down stereotypes and identify scientists in our very own lives.

Put together tech, art and the outdoors and turn it into a map! Learn some techniques for making a map, from pencil and paper to computer and GPS. We will make some maps and discuss ways to involve girls in all steps of the process depending on their skill and interest level.

462 Knife Safety & Whittling
Learn how to teach the safe use of a pocket knife, including sharpening a knife, as well as the basic cuts used in whittling. Participants will whittle a simple shape from a bar of soap. Handouts and sample "Whittling Chip" cards will be shared.

Want a simple alternative to archery? Try slingshots! They are great for all ages and are a fun way to get target practice without all the equipment. We will gets lots of practice shooting while we discuss ways to engage your troop. We'll talk about pros and cons of different ammo, as well as creating "themed" targets.

485 Grab Bag of Crafts
A NEW Grab Bag of simple craft ideas to share with ALL ages that you can use with your troop, class or just for fun. We'll make several projects, including two past favorites, paper beads and the game of Tapatan, as well as at least five new ones. Try quilling (or twirling paper), then make a small gift tag or card to show off your work. Participants will receive materials to make each item and learn to teach others. Join us for some creative fun.
